Mexico City is huge and it can be overwhelming trying to decide which area and hotel to stay in.
If you are looking for a centrally located and modern hotel, you can’t go wrong with the Mexico City Marriott Reforma Hotel.
LOCATION
The Mexico City Marriott Reforma is located right downtown on one of the city’s main streets, Paseo de la Reforma. It is located in the business district near many corporate head offices, making it ideal for business travelers. However, it is also well-located for sightseeing travelers to get to most of the city’s main attractions.
The hotel is only a short walk to the Insurgentes Metro station, making it easy (and affordable) for you to explore the city. You also have the choice of catching an Uber. We were able to get to most of the sights we wanted to see for around $100 pesos.
It was a short ride to Chapultepec Park and within walking distance of many restaurants, bars and the Reforma 222 mall. We also enjoyed wandering all the way to the Roma Norte and Condesa neighbourhoods. The hotel is in a great, safe location if you enjoy exploring by foot like we do.
ROOMS
We stayed 2 nights in a King Bed Guest Room with Executive Lounge access. Our room, #1429, was a corner room with a beautiful view over Paseo de la Reforma.
The rooms were tastefully decorated and very clean. As with all Marriott hotels we’ve stayed at, the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Rooms had AC and heating. During our stay we could not hear noise from neighbouring rooms so it seemed like the walls were pretty soundproof, which was nice.
The mini bar was well-stocked and complimentary bottled water, coffee and tea were provided.
We appreciated the plush robes and slippers provided.
The room comes with a safe that is free to use and located within the desk. There is also a flat screen TV with many channels, both in Spanish and English.
The bathroom was a good size and had nice lighting. There were nice complimentary toiletries provided, a hair dryer, weigh scale and magnifying mirror. Water pressure in the shower was good.
We appreciated the turn down service each night. They closed the blinds, folded back our sheets and left a chocolate.

AMENITIES
Wi-fi
There is a fee to use wi-fi in the rooms. However, as a Marriott Rewards member, you can log in and connect to the wi-fi for free. Otherwise it is $200 pesos for 24 hours.
Pool and Spa
There is a semi-covered outdoor pool on the 5th floor. The pool did not seem to be heated but it made for a refreshing dip considering we visited during April when it gets quite warm in Mexico city. The roof is retractable and when we were there it was half open, so you could either sit in the sun or in the shade.
The pool area is very relaxing and nicely decorated, a nice escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.
The pool is a good length to swim laps and there are also 2 hot tubs available.
While we did not try out the spa, it looked beautiful from what we could see! There is a price list available in your room.
Gym
The gym was a good size for a hotel and was well equipped with a number of cardio and weight machines. It is located just past the pool area on the 5th floor.
FOOD
The hotel has 2 different restaurants, La Mansion and Condimento, in addition to the Executive Lounge.
La Mansion is the hotel’s upscale steak restaurant located on the 2nd floor. We unfortunately did not have time to dine there but it looked fantastic. The Condimento Restaurant serves up Mexican food and is known for its extensive breakfast buffet.
There is also a bar in the lobby and there is lovely live music each night. We were there on the weekend and it seemed like a lively place to be!
Since we had access to the Executive Lounge we chose to eat breakfast and dinner there since food is complimentary.
Dinner consisted of a number of hot dishes, salads and an array of pastries and desserts.
Breakfast was an American style breakfast with cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit, oatmeal, pastries, toast, eggs, beans, sausage and bacon. Fresh fruit juice, coffee and tea were also available.
There is also room service, of course. I loved that they provided a breakfast card in the room which you could hang on your door knob to order what you wanted for breakfast. You just have to hang it before 2am and they will deliver whatever you order at whatever time you’ve indicated.
EXECUTIVE LOUNGE EXPERIENCE
If you are booked into a room with executive lounge access (highly recommend!), upon arrival you are whisked up to the 16th floor to check in. All the staff were eager to please and very friendly and helpful.
The executive lounge is located on the top floor of the hotel and consists of a nice dining area and comfy lounge areas both indoor and outdoor. Complimentary food is available throughout the day from 6am-10pm and was very good.
If you choose to join for breakfast or dinner you will be given an invoice when you are done eating to enter your room number and a tip, if you wish. The food and non-alcoholic drinks are free but alcoholic drinks are extra.
BOOKING
You can easily book a room or suite on the Marriott website.
Overall Rating: 10/10
The Marriott brand is well known as a leader in the hotel industry, but the Mexico City Marriott Reforma Hotel exceeded our expectations! We can’t express enough how great all the staff were from the moment we walked through the front door each day. From the bell boys, to the lounge attendants, to the check in agents, to the cleaning staff – all were so welcoming and helpful.
We loved how stylish this hotel is – the lobby, lounge areas, and even the hallways were beautiful. My favorite part has to be the views from both our room and the 16th floor executive lounge. And you can’t beat how comfortable the rooms are.
We will definitely stay here again when we are in Mexico City and highly recommend it!
Disclaimer: We received a complimentary upgrade to an Executive Level room with Lounge Access but, as always, all opinions are completely our own and we are providing our honest review.

Marriott hotels are absolute luxury, you can never go wrong with them. It looks like you had a very comfortable stay.
They are! I love the Marriott chain 🙂 Very comfortable indeed.
What a lovely place to enjoy the holiday! I love the huge windows in your room, and the semi-covered pool is so great – I love sunbathing, but my partner most of the time would rather sit in the shadow and chill 🙂
Thanks Anna! Yes, the view from the room was fantastic. And my husband and I are the same as you guys haha, he would prefer to sit in the shade whereas I prefer to bake in the sun! hehe, so the semi-covered pool area is perfect 😉
Hi! Nice find! Looks like a comfortable place to stay! Helllloooo breakfast! That had to be a winning combination and with a pool! Score! Saving this one!
Thanks!
Thanks Dee! Yes, we loved the breakfasts and the pool was a nice retreat from the bustling city life! If you’re visiting Mexico City it is a great place to stay for sure 🙂
Marriot’s are always a good choice. This one looks like it has a great gym and spa.
Yes, it’s true, they are always a safe choice as every Marriott I’ve stayed at has always been clean and comfortable with good service. This one had the best gym I’ve ever seen in a hotel! 🙂
I’ve had a great experience with every Marriott I’ve ever stayed at, so I’m glad to hear that the one in Mexico City is lovely as well!
I love Marriott properties. They always have clean comfy rooms and great service. I’ve never been to Mexico City and would consider staying here if I ever go 🙂
Yes, me too! They are all so comfortable and clean. We highly recommend Mexico City 🙂
I always like the Marriott, they are good hotels.I never been in Mexico city but i know that it´s really a big place, so looking for a hotel it´s not easy. Good to know that this one is a good choice.
Yes, you are right – Mexico City is huge! We definitely had a hard time deciding where to stay at first. So glad we chose this hotel 🙂 The location was perfect and it was very comfortable and clean!
This is a very thorough, useful review. You listed everything I look for with photos! The key things I look for (past the main obvious ones) is the plug access at the beds. Check! I love too that you posted your room number so it can be requested because that view is beautiful. I, too, love the Marriott brand and I haven’t been to Mexico City yet, but this would be where I wanted to stay! Thank you!
What a beautiful hotel, and I love those views! I too love exploring cities on foot, so a good location can make or break a trip.
Especially when you go somewhere like Mexico City, you want to be sure of finding somewhere comfortable and safe, so you did well to go to the Marriott. The roof terrace also looks great!
Wow those are some awesome looking pastries. Very surprising, would not have expected that at a Marriott.
I went to Mexico City a few years ago and I just loved it so much. Your right though it can be overwhelming there. The Mexico City Marriott Reforma looks and sounds really nice and you are right it is a great location. I also stayed in the business district but I don’t remember the name of the place I stay but I loved the position too.
I’ve never actually had the luxury of staying in a Marriott, although I used to go there every lunchtime to drink coffee when I worked in London. Looks like they really gave you a luxury experience. I particularly like the ability to hang your food orders on the door — you don’t even have to call.
Great review. Marriott always stands up to the expectation . Photos look amazing 🙂 . Have not been to that part of the world yet!
